FAQs
General Questions About KLEENOIL Filtration
A bypass filter processes a small amount of oil at a time, slowly passing it through a high-density filtration media for deeper cleaning. Unlike full-flow filters, which prioritize volume and speed, bypass filters like KLEENOIL remove finer particles and water, dramatically improving oil cleanliness without interrupting system flow.
KLEENOIL filters down to 3 microns and can achieve cleanliness levels better than ISO 18/16/13—far superior to typical OEM filtration.
Yes. KLEENOIL's cellulose depth media absorbs and retains up to 99.5% of free and emulsified water, helping prevent acid formation and corrosion.
No. KLEENOIL is specifically designed to retain essential oil additives like detergents, dispersants, and anti-wear agents—while removing only harmful contaminants like soot, dirt, and water.
This depends on the application and contamination levels, but typically every 500 hours of operation or annually for systems running continuously. Oil sampling, or KLEENOILs expertise can help determine exact intervals.
Absolutely. KLEENOIL systems are easy to install on both new and existing equipment, with flexible setups for engines, hydraulics, and fuel tanks. Do check with your OEM on new equipment – OEM’s have a common statement on ANY retrofit product as follow; “Whilst the fitting or use of non-OEM aftermarket products may not, in itself, invalidate the warranty of the vehicle/Machine, we the manufacturer, reserve the right to disclaim the liability for a failure of our product which, in our opinion, can be attributed directly or indirectly to the fitting, use or failure of any such products.” In such case ; KLEENOIL insurers would step in. In over 30 years KLEENOIL has not had a claim.
Applications & System Types
Yes. KLEENOIL is suitable for a wide range of machinery—from small engines and production machines to marine vessels, buses, and heavy plant—wherever oil or fuel needs to be kept clean.
Portable units (like the MS2 or ELAIS) are mobile, self-contained, and easy to move between machines. Permanent systems are installed in-line or offline to continuously clean oil/fuel during operation or on a timed basis.
NONE ; other than the labelling ; so if you want to buy a KLEENOIL ; you could use it for fuel filtration too ! ( not so in the case of the ELAIS where pumps are specific to the viscosities of oil and fuel – in which case if you intend to use for both applications – go for the KLEENOIL ELAIS )
ELAIS is our next-generation portable filtration range, combining modern connectivity, portability, and advanced usability with KLEENOIL’s proven cellulose depth filtration. It’s perfect for compact tanks, service teams, and fieldwork, and even the private user with boats and fuel tanks.
Practical Use & Support
Our mobile units operate on 110v – 240v or 415v, and the ELAIS are 12v/24v
Yes. Most systems are simple to install using basic tools and common fittings. We provide full instructions, and our support team is available if needed.
Visual checks are easy – but we recommend oil sampling and analysis, which can be arranged through the KLEENOIL Service Programme or your own lab. Cleanliness can also be monitored using ISO codes or real-time particle counters.
Our systems typically bring oil down to better than ISO 18/16/13, exceeding new oil standards and greatly reducing component wear and fluid degradation.
Yes. Our systems complement OEM filters and meet or exceed most cleanliness specifications. In fact, using KLEENOIL often helps extend OEM component life.
Sustainability & Savings
By extending oil life (up to 5x for engines and 10x for hydraulics) and reducing the need for new fluids and replacement parts, KLEENOIL lowers oil consumption, waste, and emissions.
Customers often see 50–90% reductions in oil usage, depending on the system and usage intensity—delivering both cost savings and environmental benefits.
We are actively working toward full recyclability of our cartridges. Used filters can currently be disposed of safely, and we continue to develop solutions that align with circular economy practices.
